There are no high mountains around Voronezh, but there are ski centers. They appeared on the slopes of ravines that local ski enthusiasts adapted for training. Thanks to their efforts, these slopes gradually gained infrastructure: runs of different difficulty levels, lifts, rental points, cafés, and even small hotels. The first ski club appeared in Chertovitsy — today it is the most popular place in the city for skiing and for the local sports crowd. The ski club “Evolyutsiya Kostenki” can boast the longest slope; it is located next to the famous village of Kostenki. The Dongor Ski Complex offers well-groomed runs and new lifts, snowboarding and tubing, and a gorgeous view of the Don River.
What can each of these winter resorts offer a family that wants to spend the cold season actively and in a healthy way? Below are these centers on the map, followed by a detailed description.

1. Chertovitsy Ski Club
The ski center in Chertovitsy is ideal for everyone who wants to learn alpine skiing.
Beginners can work with instructors; more advanced skiers can improve their skills. For real experts the runs will not be too challenging — the trails are not very long and the vertical drop is small.
Location
The ski center is located in the village of Chertovitsy, Ramon district, 20 km from Voronezh. It takes about 30 minutes by car. You can also get to the slope:
- by minibus No. 305 – runs daily;
- by regular bus from the Central bus station – departures from 6:30 to 18:30 every 30 minutes;
- by taxi.
The base is located in a picturesque place, in a forest zone, not far from the river.
Trail overview
Chertovitsy has seven equipped runs:
- training slope – 100 m long;
- green (easy) – 340 m;
- blue (intermediate) – 260 m;
- 2 red (advanced) – up to 350 m;
- 2 black (high difficulty) – up to 200 m.
The vertical drop on the slopes does not exceed 70 m. Thanks to snow guns there is good snow cover in any weather; the surface is groomed daily by snowcats. In the evening the lighting is turned on and skiing continues until 22:30. Five T-bar lifts serve the runs; on weekends and holidays queues form — you can feel how close it is to the city. Instead of 3–3.5 minutes, the lift ride can stretch to 5–10 minutes.
